An old, yellow VW Bug convertible was recently donated to Habitat for Humanity. This car donation is specifically for the donor’s local habitat in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The generous donor purchased the 1975 Volkswagen Beetle after her last child left for college. She lovingly named her car ‘Baby’. At the time the donor was the owner of a llama ranch in Flagstaff, Arizona. Interesting car for a llama ranch, right? Later in life ‘Baby’ made the trip across the ocean as her loving owner brought her to Hawaii when they moved there. Living on the island of Molokai, it was the perfect car! The island is only 30 miles wide and 10 miles across with two main roads, one stop sign, no stop lights. Other memories of the car include the donor driving her husband dressed as Santa Claus to Toys for Tots every Christmas. She says the children loved seeing Santa arrive in the yellow bug decorated as a reindeer.
